Suspected Cat allergies?

One of my roommates recently adopted a cat from the local SPCA and since she moved in, I experienced hay fever like symptoms: runny nose, stuffy nose, sneezing and itchy eyes. (And it's been raining hard for the past week, so I know it's not my hayfever regularly.) I researched the symptoms of cat allergy and they are all a little vague. So what are symptoms of an allergy to animals and should I go for an allergy test to be sure? (And if you could relate a personal experience, it would be great. I heard people develop hives and other things, but I do experience rhinitis / hay fever with my allergies.) I had dogs, long hair and short, and were the cats before, but I have not experienced any symptoms related to allergies animals cat until my roommate moved in. It is a female tabby, short hair, so it is useful, and she moved in about 3 days ago (I SO do not know if it's related to the fact that she was at the SPCA). Thank you!

You may have an allergic reaction to cats. These symptoms are common to almost any type of allergy. You can try taking a medicine against allergies over the counter. I know someone who has watery, itchy eyes and sneezing whenever he enters a house with a cat. He did not even have to see.

Veterinary. Rhynoscopy from a dog, nasal polyps, rhinitis
